Expertise:

Shakespeare, film adaptation, film history and theory, rhetoric and popular culture

Teaching Interests:

Shakespeare; Shakespeare and film; satire and popular culture; representations of race and gender in film and television; film genres/movements (particularly the film musical, screwball comedy, and film noir)

Points of Interest:

I am currently writing a paper that looks at Humphrey Bogart’s star image in light of Lauren Bacall’s autobiography, one of the few media texts out there that represents Bogart as something other than just a Hollywood tough guy. I have also recently completed a project that positions Nancy Meyers's film Something's Gotta Give (2003) within the central conventions, characterization, and narrative structure of the classical screwball comedy.
