Areas of Study in the English Department English is available as a major on the B.A. degree and as a minor on the B.A. and B.S. degrees.
Writing is available as a major on the B.A. degree and as a minor on the B.A. and B.S. degrees.
Information for New majors: The specific requirements for graduation depend on the year you declared a major. If you declared Summer 2007 or after, the details below apply to your program of study. Otherwise, check the Past Bulletins to find the requirements that apply to you.
Can an English major declare a Writing minor? Can a Writing major declare an English minor? Yes, but only if the student wants to take an additional semester’s worth of courses. Students in AddRan College can take a maximum of 36 hours from any one department in AddRan, so the major (31 hours) + minor (18 hours) would require 49 hours, which is 13 hours above the 36 hour limit. Those extra 13 hours would have to be taken in addition to the 124 hours for the degree.
